On Saturday Bill and I piled into the car and took a scenic drive to the Washington County Fairgrounds to attend the first annual Southern Adirondack Fiber Festival

It was a beautiful day, the temperatures were cool, perfect shawl weather, and it was bright and sunny all day. There were over 80 vendors there. On top of spinning, weaving, and rug hooking demonstrations, and a really interesting sheep sheering demo.

For the full rundown including bunches of pictures, check out my knitting blog.

we had a great time, and you can see tons of pictures I took here

it is really and truly spring now!

about the beginning of march the ice breaker went through the St. Lawrence and ships have been coming and going along the narrow path.

but only just recently has the rest of the mighty river begun breaking up. which mean it finally is spring. (even if it is still pretty chilly out)

the view from the benches at Frink park. you can see it's clearing up nicely along the seaway, and the ice burgs are bumping around around the shoreline

today Bill and I went to Wellesley island to go for a hike.
the weather finally was warm enough and there was no rain. and frankly we were going stir crazy.

things are just beginning to thaw and melt up there. there is still quite a bit of snow on the trails. but there is also a lot of melting and running water.

several times we cam to parts of the trail that were flooded and there were quite a few impromptu steams.

at one point we came to a spot were water was flowing towards us from both ends of the trail and diverting of to the side towards a small bay nearby. the running water over the leaves was very pretty, and the resulting curls and rivulets when we stired up the mud was kinda pretty. so I took a picture:

Photobucket

I also took some videos today. the first one is of the muddy stream an the next to are of a spot where the ground was covered with a layer of ice, but there was water flowing along the ground, UNDER the ice, making weird/cool shadows and movements.

we are back from Rhinebeck!

Bill and I had an awesome time, we left Friday morning, got to Albany and after checking in immediately tried to find some food.
first we went to Colonie Center, but their food court sucked, there were only three places! blech, so we decided to try the Crosgates mall, even worse, they had a decent food court, but the place was HUGE and loud and packed, so as soon as we finished eating we beat a hasty retreat.

Saturday morning was breakfast at Brugers Bagels(YUM!) and then Monica and Lee arrived, got their breakfast and we headed to Rhinebeck.
OMG it was sooo awesome!!!!!!!
for a Rhinebeck rundown, check out my knitting blog

after that Monica and Lee joined us for an excellent dinner at the Bangkok Thai restaurant. after that it was collapse back at the motel.

after not getting nearly enough sleep Bill and I took off Sunday morning for the last day of the festival. we were going to come back to Albany afterwards and do some grocery shopping (there are some Dahls and curry pastes that we have only been able to find at ethnic groceries that we just do not have in our area) but we were just so tired that we decided to just come home instead. I'm glad we did, I'm still a little tired today, but very happy.

today Bill and i went for a walk along the man made land bridge leading to Washington Island. There are a ton of smoothed over stones along the sides of the road.
while we were there we tried our hands at some more rock balancing.
I hope they will give other passersby's a little pause and a smile.

Bill and I went Geocaching today, and went after a nice big one, four small micro caches in parks along the seaway trail, leading to a big cache on Wellesley island. It was a lot of fun, and I realized how much I miss Geocaching.

We had a great day and saw a lot of things we never would have seen other wise.

Along the trail to the final cache we saw a pile of stones and we got it into us to try some rock balancing, inspired by some pictures we saw in a blog he reads.

more like Saturday sky, taken Sunday posted Monday. but close enough.

Saturday was my Bridal Shower and that took up most of my energy for the day, but on Sunday Bill and I went out to the Mina Anthony Common Nature Center out on Wellesley Island so he could work on the Blogger Bio Blitz.

While there I got this wonderful shot.
That's an Osprey, there were two but I could only get one on camera, and a mating pair is know to nest near where we were.
They were spectacular!

Bill and I had a great time at the NYS sheep and wool festival, down in Reinbeck. We left Friday morning, and drove down to Albany, it was raining quire fitfully, and apparently my bladder is very impressionable, we had to make several stops on the way down, but otherwise we made pretty good time. When it wasn't raining I managed to get several pictures of the wonderful foliage from the car.

Once we arrived in Albany we threw our stuff into the room and headed out to buy stuff. Albany has a wonderful selection of ethnic markets, unlike anything we have here in Clayton or Watertown, so every time we go to Albany we make sure to visit the Asian market to by curry paste (there's actually two Asian markets in Watertown, but nether of them carry the brand of curry paste we like, that doesn't use fish paste.) and then off to the Indian market to buy Dals (dried legumes) Bill got a four pound bag each of kala chana, urad dal, mung dal, and toovar dal, unfortunately the prices had gone up and instead of $3 a bag, we had to pay $7. which is still pretty damned good, since they last quite some time, and we can't find them anywhere in our area. After our shopping adventures we visited the Albany Borders, where I got to actually hold and play with a Sony Reader I want. And Bill bought a bunch of books that they don't carry in out local Borders. Then it was of to the Bangkok Thai restaurant for a delicious dinner, then back to the motel for the night.

Then to the main event, Saturday, it was a beautiful sunny day and the fairgrounds were packed, it was a struggle to walk through the vender barns without getting trampled by crazy fiber enthusiasts. I picked up a little beginners needle felting kit, and then the rest of the day was spend just wandering around and taking pictures of adorable fiber animals.

and bought some extra yummy raw cow's milk cheese! mmmmm...

Sunday it was MUCH less busy, I got to try out a bunch of spinning wheels, bought a pumpkin needle felting kit. (Reinbeck is dangerous; every time I go there I come out with a new addiction!) Read more... )
And generally wandered around more. I really wanted to buy some roving, but I haven't really had a lot of time to spin lately, and I still have a bunch of cayenne fur to finish up before I can even look ant anything else. And most of the yarns just were too expensive for too little for me to really do anything with them. Before we left we watched the parade of llamas and alpacas and then stopped by the Wildman Jack reptile show, which was a lot of fun, it was amusing to watch he kids reactions compared with their mothers.

then it was straight home form the festival, it was a nice drive, but once again, started raining again the farther we went along. Although I did get another great picture before we left the Albany area.

Just got back from taking the evening cruse on Uncle Dave's new tour boat.

It was nice, even if we didn't find out until after we had boarded that a bunch of Grindstone Islanders (Clayton's white trash) had chartered the boat tonight for an anniversary party, they were drunk and rowdy, but quite amusing to watch.

Apparently some woman showed up with her half her age boyfriend, a few minutes later her husband boarded, it was kind of tense.
Later on, once they left one of the other passengers found out and flipped.
Silly illegal Canadians.

Then there was the guy who dumped a full chest of beer cans and ice all over the boat when he was tying to get off.

Besides the drunken silliness it was a nice ride around the thousand islands, this really is a beautiful area.

Ok, so other than the Geocaching let down, today was a BEAUTIFUL day!

Warm, sunny, naturey!
Bill too hundreds of pictures while we were out, we even cam almost close enough to touch a couple of deer! Such gorgeous creatures.

Our clothing smells like the outside (cayenne had to give us a through sniff over when we came home,) and it was sooo pretty.
And it's just going to keep getting warmer this week, up to about 60F by Friday! :D:D:D:D

Wednesday we are hoping to go out around town and see if we can find any of the Clayton caches, and to scout out locations for a new one we want to place.
And maybe another outside walkies adventure on Friday!

Oh bliss, oh joy!

Bill and I went to the Clayton Cristmas parade today.

It was fun, I was surprised by the length of the parade, and the turn out.  I wasn't expecting so much from such a little town.

The floats were cute, and I swear that the people in the parade bought a bag of candy per child watching.  "Clayton Christmas parade: sponsored by the Clayton dental association"

We saw an awesome little band called "The island band"  those guys looked like they were having a ton of fun, and were incredibly entertaining.  It made up for the TI marching band.

Bill and I complained about that a bit.  A good half the kids obviously didn't know the music. And a quarter of them had cheat sheets!  That and they apparently couldn't figure out the slow march/march in place thing.  And had absolutely no rhythm to their steps, they weren't marching to the music, or in synch with each other.

When he was in marching band the director was much stricter and had much higher standards. And I'm used to Watertown where the band director was sadistic.  I remember watching him make them go through all sorts of in synch marching maneuvers while playing in the parking lot during some of my more bring classes. I remember hair pin turns, high speed marching to slow dirges, and barely moving crawls marching to high tempo pop music.

Ah well.  All in all it was a fun day out.  even if we nearly froze or toes off. :p

Well, almost anyways.

Bill and I decided that since we were going to be in Watertown today, that we would take the Border's coupon that had pointed out by [info]mactavish and buy a new cook book (like we didn't have enough already)

So up we go Arsenal street, but it was very busy and the traffic was horribly slow, even for a Saturday. So I decide to take a turn and go the back way to the mall via Coffeen Street. But it takes us even longer to even get on Coffeen that it would have to stay on Arsenal. Once we finally get there we barely got 100 feet before there was a trooper car blocking the way!

He was letting people go towards downtown, but our way was completely blocked. Our only way out was to go the completely wrong way down I 81. So that is what we did. We got off at the next exit (Bradley St./Clayton) turn around and get right back on 81. we decide to give the Coffeen St. exit a pass (we assumed there must have been an accident farther up, and that was why we were blocked), and go straight for Arsenal. But don't you know it, but there were troopers all over the place blocking of the Arsenal St. exit too!!

So we had to go WAY out of our way to the next exit (Watertown center) then drive all the way back home.

Once home we turned on Grandma's scanner, and set dad to watching the news to figure out what all the hub-bub was.

Apparently why doing some renovating for a new store in the mall, the construction workers hit a gas main, and the place had to be evacuated!

Grandma called Aunt Mary, because she has her scanner on 24/7 and we though she might already have known what was going on, and Tasha had been there when they evacuated. Whoa.

Yesterday Bill and I went to a Geocaching event on Wellesley Island.

We had a blast finding the temporary caches, hanging out and talking with cachers from all across the state and Ontario, we went out to hunt one of the permanent caches, And then got some neat booty in the drawing (We got this cool orange tee shirt from the nature center with a turkey vulture on it, bill LOVES turkey vultures.)

We were in a bit of a hurry when we went on the hike for the permanent cache, so I ended up pushing myself too much on the level five terrain (lots of rocky uphill down hill steepness)

We were pooped when we got home, but that was ok, because I hade made dinner in the crock pot and it was waiting for us. Mmmm YUMMY.

But now my calves and quadriceps (not to mention my knees!) are killing me!!
:: whimper ::

But you know the weird thing? I would so do it all over again; we had such a great time!

Oh yeah, and it was a bit chilly yesterday, so I wore the hat I had knit myself from black yarn. It has ear flaps with ties and pom-poms, and cute little kitty ears with pink fuzz.
Ever now and then when we met up with somebody along the trails they give me a strange look, or get these huge smiles. And it took me a minute to realize why. I was kind of making an unintentional glamorbomb! :D

Well yesterday was "Monica's birthday - observed"

After a bad day at work Monica gave me some time to cool off and then I went over and looked at some neat-o old knitting books, and bags of yarn that she got a the thrift shop.

Then we went to the thrift shop and MONICA ended up buying the giant trash bag o' yarn. Hehehe, but I got some for myself (still have to do a burn test on some of it) and we looked around some neat-o stuff.

Then it was off to the Apollo restaurant.
Yummy Greek food!!
We made naughty noises over the baklava and had a nice conversation with the waitress I was nice, must go back there again.

The mall was fun we went shopping and I got a new shirt at hot topic, its cool (if a bit small yet) then we wandered around for a while because the movie didn't start until 9:45 and we got there at 8:30 or so.

I would just like to say Big Fish was AWESOME!!!!!
We laughed we cried (way too much) it was just great.

It was so nice to actually get out of the house and DO something.
Especially with Monica, she rocks.

After such a crappy day at work (I was to the point of kicking he desk at work) it was a GREAT ending to the day.

I stayed up way too late last night.
But then again I slept in WAY too much yesterday morning, (until 2) I had meant to get up around 10-11 ish and get my shower etc and then get a hold of Monica so we could hang out and knit and watch movies. But obviously that didn't happen.

I had to run around and rush to get dressed and ready to go shopping with mom, we got some 'control top' underwear to give my tummy support while the muscles reconnect and found a really pretty pair of pants that fit me well. I also grabbed some stuff for the office and a few new pairs of 'fancy' panties for myself. It's amazing how sexy a nice pair of panties can make you feel.

I finally got a hold of Monica when I got home and she came over and we talked knitting and knitted during the Labyrinth, mmmm Bowie-age. ;)

I finally took my shower wicked late and then ended up spending almost an hour and a half washing my hair, scrubbing and shaving. I had to do my final rinse off in ice cold water. Blech.

I didn't get to bed until well after midnight and had to get up early to go to the office. It was a mess as usual, we concentrated on cleaning out the desk drawers and re organizing things and getting the bulletin printed out and run off and folded with the inserts. There is still a lot to be done before I will be satisfied with the state of that office. And a lot of it I am just not familiar enough with the official business to organize correctly, so I have to wait until somebody else can come in and help me. Also, the old secretary saw fit to take old files and just toss them in old copier paper boxes and shove them into a corner with no organizing at all. So I have to go through all those and put them in proper order and boxes so they can e taken to one of the storage rooms.
So much to do, its going to be a long time before I can just go in and sort the mail, type up a few things print them off and go. But the job will be so easy once I get to that point.

I cam home and laid on the bed to pet Booger for a few minutes and promptly fell asleep until mom called me about 1 ½ hrs later to find out what the dinner plans were. It was ok though, Boogs didn't mind, he had curled up right next to me and gone to sleep himself. Soo cute!

Well that was my boring couple of days.
Yep. Wa hoo...

Went to the office to scope the place out. It was a MESS.
They were very unorganized, files everywhere and random stuff that obviously didn't belong in the office were strewn about the shelves.
I nearly cried when I got to the computer.
Slooow dial up connection, the desktop was a mess (I'm kinda obsessive about messy computer desktops and file placement) and there were programs w/o CDs. The old secretary apparently took a lot of work home and did it there because she was too lazy to get the Word CD out and install the features needed to do them. And also had a tendency to randomly put files wherever she felt.

*sigh

the pastor at larger should be there tomorrow and I can get some info from him to work on the bulletin (that should only take an hour or so with all the info I need.) and John will be there so I can talk to him about the books (there really weird, first time I have seen the total listed first in a ledger and with side numbers between it and the numbers being totaled)

Also, luckily I have a program here at home that I can't use but would work beautifully for putting together the addresses for the mailing lists and Tower Times. (The old secretary took it home and used her own special program. Guess she though she was going to work there forever and nobody else would ever need to do it too....)

Its going to be weird tomorrow, I wore my only pair of fitting pants (my others are tow tight with the swelling yet, but that should go down in about a month or so) so I have to wear a skirt and the only one I have that's good enough for all this cold is my black gothy skirt... so the cute little pagan Goth church secretary gets to meet the Baptist minister she has to work with.

Meow

My belly button hurts,
The doc gave me Silver sulfadiazine to put in it to help it heal and prevent any fungus that may be wanting to grow in its warm moist breeding ground.

Unfortunately it burns and itches like crazy now, and is making it look all gross and gooey, and I think I may be making the previous yucky parts peel. My belly button also started bleeding again a little, but I don't know it was caused by my overzealous cleaning, or the ointment.

Well I need sleep; have to get up in the morning to go back to the office again.
Blech.

Went shopping today.

My first real trip out since the surgery
It was very tiring but I'm glad. I was going stir crazy.

I ware a skirt so I could pin my drains inside of it and nobody could see them.
Dad and I got almost everything we needed in one trip. And it was relatively docile out, surprising for the Sunday before Christmas.
I went to Gertrude Hawke and got people bunches of chocolate, and me and dad got mom a $100 gift certificate to her fav. Clothing store. She hasn't been able to get herself much new clothing lately.
Afterwards we went to taco bell my fist soda since about 2 weeks before the surgery. Weee!

When I got home I kind of just sat around and knit. Boring ol' me.

Lalala.

Oops, one of my drains is leaking, gotta go....

Wow, I'm slow about getting around to type stuff up for LJ.

Well last night after spending the day in Oswego (thank you for the presents Rachel!)
Dave and I headed home.
It was rather uneventful until right outside of Pulaski.
You see just as we were slowing down for the speed zone a young deer ran out in front of us.

*SMASH*

We ran right into it, it went flying then tried to get up but we hadn't finished decelerating yet so it went rolling into the hood and bumped the windshield before rolling of, getting to its feet (holding its back right leg up, with a large gash in it) and running into a nearby field.

Dave pulled the car over and we sat there for a second catching out breath and trying to get our hearts out of our throats. I got out my cell and called my parents while Dave got out to inspect the damage, then he got back in to call his parents.
All that was broken was the left hand headlight cover.
That's it, no dent, no scratch, nothing.

Dave handled himself beautifully. He stayed calm took charge and did everything right. I was really impressed.

He didn't swerve which would have either put us in the oncoming lane right under the crest of a hill, meaning oncoming traffic wouldn't see us till it's too late, or we would have gone into a HUGE tree. And also would have caused more damage to the car because we wouldn't have hit the deer head on, which would have resulted in crumpled corners and a dead deer.
And he didn't swear or cry or shout or carry on, he kept calm and cool.

We got home and Dave checked the car out one more time then came in and relaxed a little bit and got hits wits together before heading home.

Wow.

Watched the eclipse tonight.
It was cool

While watching and talking about it with a friend the fact that since the earth is mother earth and the moon is the goddess and the sun in the god, that an eclipse was a sort of pagan celestial threesome. (two girls and a guy moving around all close like) and right when that was said we saw a meteor which appeared to be plunging straight for the moon.

Yep, pagan celestial porn.

Ok,
I'll pull my mind out of the gutter now.

So anyways, tonight I was knitting while sitting in Denny's...
(not as good as wearing faerie wings or cat ears, but I'm getting there Monica :)

I was thinking about a neat concept for a shadow run character.

A male troll.
Picture a large ugly troll wearing a lopsided and holey sweater, knitted knickers with one leg too short, horn warmers with pom poms on the ends, and he's standing there knitting something with bright pink yarn.

When asked what he's knitting the reply is "gun cozy."

Gods forbid you cause him to miss a stitch, those knitting needles are lethal.

Oh and when he's finished with the gun cozy he's going to give it to the most angst-y and darkly clad member of the group. (Remember its bright pink, and... well, a knitted gun cozy... I mean come on!) and if they don't use it he will get very, very upset...

Whoo boy was this weekend fun!

I had a good time in school before I left; I wore my ears paws and tail with my cooking uniform (black pants so it still matched) and got quite a few positive responses. Then I rushed home and packed and got ready to go to Oswego. I left a little late and ended up forgetting the sleeping bad, but it was ok 'cus Monica was able to get an air mattress.

Once I got there we hung out for a little bit and then headed over to dinner. Which was cool, I'm soo glad lakeside carried moosewood soups, it was way yummy. Then we went back to the room for a bit then headed out for the MTTB around 9 ish.

MTTB:
AWESOME!

It was a lot of fun, a lot of people had some really neat-o costumes, last year there weren't any cats so that's what I went as this year, but of course like 5 million other girls did too. Blah. But it was still fun! Lindsay and Brandon and I danced some, and then they went off to watch Pirates of the Caribbean, but I wanted to stay and dance.
So I danced. A lot.
There was a lot of really great music (they played a lot of DDR stuff too, but that just made it easier to dance to ;). And dancing w Addison, Sean, and Chris was totally awesome. Those guys are really great to interact w/ on the floor, so much fun and energy. I loved mikes costume (yay Spider Jerusalem) and Sean was tres creative (if not very, very hot)
The costume contest was very amusing, I really liked Justin's costume, and Scot Staab is the master of makeup and costuming, I loved it. Bree and her Bf (I'm sorry, I forgot his name) made an awesome pair as the goddess and horned god.

Hmm... if I keep listing off cool costumes this is going to go on for miles. :D
So I'll stop here and say there were a TON of great costumes, and mucho, mucho good music and I danced way too much, (so much I had trouble walking home, and walking the next day for that matter, I'm still sore.) and it was wicked fun and I can't wait until next year to do it all over again!

If anybody wants to see pictures (I took a bunch, and so did other people) wander over to the STG yahoo group and take a peak.

Took the kitten to the vet today to get his checkup and shots.
He loved the car ride there; he sat in the passenger seat and looked out the window like a dog. Very cute. (Don't worry he was on a small retractable leash which was belted in, he wasn't going anywhere)
He was a little nervous in the waiting room with all the weird noises and people around, but he was ok.

Then we took him into the examination room and the nurse tried to take his temperature...
Disaster, he was all over the place, scratching and biting and having little kitty hysterics.
After that I was able to get him a little calmer while we waited for the doctor, but when he tried to examine him he would bite and scratch and get all spastic. The doctor was great though, he handled it smoothly and kept him as calm as possible, I was impressed.

They had to take Rusty into the other room to get his shots and have the blood drawn for the feline leukemia test, and while he was there I asked to have his claws trimmed.
They said they were ale to keep him distracted enough to get everything done, they even got the de-worming pill in with no problem.

After that we had to wait a little bit for the test results so I let him run around and explore the exam room on the leash and I talked to the doctor about getting him neutered and de-clawed and about having to get boosters for some of his shots.

The blood work was negative so we were set to go, I made an appt for Tues, Nov. 4 for Rusty to go into the hospital and get de-clawed and fixed. And then about 2-3 weeks later he needs his boosters.

So now he's home and happy and Boogs is happy because he doesn't have sharp claws anymore. But my hands are still sore from the scratching Rusty dealt out before he got hem trimmed.

Ah well.

So Mom decided to take me to Ithaca this weekend to go eat at the Moosewood Restaurant.
About this same time dad got a flyer for a nearby (to Ithaca) museum dedicated to a free thinker.

FAMILY ROAD TRIP!

Saturday we packed up and headed out.
We got to the Robert Ingersoll Birthplace Museum and dad got all excited because he thinks he actually owns some of the guys writing.
He's pretty interesting actually and I wouldn't mind reading some more about him.

Then we headed to Ithaca. It was a really pretty drive along Seneca Lake and around to the tip of Cayuga Lake.
Once in Ithaca we got lost amongst the millions of one way streets until we found the restaurant. Then we got lost again trying to find out hotel because the streets weren't labeled properly.

After settling in we headed back to the Restaurant. They didn't start taking names to seat people until 5:15 and it wasn't even 4 yet, so we wandered around downtown Ithaca for a while. There's this really neato closed off to traffic section flanked by all sorts of neat shops and stuff. There was a shop of all sorts of cool cooking tools and specialty pans, two used book stores right next to each other, and at the end of the 'street' there was this super awesome store called 'evolution 124" (I think that's the number I don't remember but it was something like that) that was kind of like hot topic but not. I got myself a new pair of thigh high fishnets for Halloween.

Then we went back to the Dewitt building (where Moosewood was) and looked around the stores there. I found a really nice little shop specializing in Japanese and Japanese style prints. It had a lot of really pretty stuff. There were a few used book stores there too, and a normal bookstore called the Bookery where dad bought me a new book (For Her Own Good by Barbara Ehrenreich and Deirdre English about the mistreatment of women by the medical industry and its idiocy.) to red while we waited for our seats at Moosewood.

Finally our names got called and we went in to eat. It was AMAZING! The menu wasn't that big but it was all super awesome, there were only two dishes that I couldn't eat (they serve fish too) we all ordered something different and tried each other's dishes. I got Thai Curry, It was soooooooooooooooooo good!!!! (Although it was a bit spicy and I ate it so slowly that it took a few layers off of my toung ;) and mom really enjoyed it, dad even offered to buy me a lot more of their cookbooks so I could make more meals like that.

After dinner it was back to the room to sleep and plan for tomorrow.

My parents had been so impressed by all the wineries on our way to Ithaca, and my ravings about the tour I took wit my class that they decided to go home along the Cayuga Wine Trail and stop at a few wineries to try some of the wines.

We stopped at Selkirk Shores, Goose Watch and Knapp. It was really nice, my dad was impressed by my knowledge of wines and mom actually found some wines OTHER than White Zinfandel that she liked! We ended up buying 8 bottles of wine (4 from Knap) and they say that I have to start making some fancy meals to go with them. And there going to use at least three of them for Thanksgiving dinner. (yay no more disgusting blue nun!) :)
Mom and dad really liked Knapp, and mom bought a stuffed kitty from there. (They have a orange tiger winery mascot cat. And even have a wine named after him. So cute)

All in all it was a GREAT weekend, and mom and dad say we may be taking trip like this more often, just a family thing, because it was really nice and relaxing and fun (when we weren't getting lost :: shakes fist at badly labeled road system :: )

:) :)

I had a nice day today with my family!

I slept in until about 11:30 when mom and dad came home (dad had gone to puck mom up from church)

We went to Borders and wandered around looking at books, dad pointed out this nifty book called "Bitch in the House" its about how a lot of successful women/wives/mothers who should be very happy and content by society's standards are actually quite miserable and bitchy and moody, and why. It really doesn't pertain to me, more my mother (since it describes her to a tee) but it is really interesting and maybe it will help my understand mom a little more.

After browsing around the store with my dad we gathered in the café and drank coffee (I had chai tea) and ate pastries (I have a cinnamon scone, pip, pip, cherio!) and just chilled and talked and read our books. (Mom really liked a cook book I pick out)

After we finished at borders we wandered over to the pet store, where they have the CUTEST baby Basset Hound!! Mom and dad didn't want to get him (and I can understand why, we really can't handle a new puppy right now) but we still browsed around a little more before leaving (their kitty toys are way to expensive and not cool enough by kitten standards)

After the mall we headed to the Burville Cider Mill, it was totally cool, it was all pretty and autumn smelling (it reminded me of Keats's "to autumn") we got a bunch of fresh cider, some cider doughnuts, cheese curd, and I picked out a nice round pumpkin for carving.
It was funny, the guy said if dad guessed the weight on the pumpkin we could get it for free, so dad hefted it a few times and guessed 9lb, but he said he thought that might be too high. So the guy weighs it and it comes out to be 22 lb!! My dad has been lifting iron and heavy stuff for so long on the job, he's quite strong, and the pumpkin felt that light to him! :D

After the mill we headed back home, it was such a nice day, I hung out downstairs while dad watch his baseball and football, and helped mom with dinner a little, then I went up to grandmas to work on some cloth pads to use as back up for my Mooncup. The kitten followed me up and spent the whole time crawling under the beds and dressers and getting scared by the sewing machine.
:)

All in all it was a really nice day. :)
yay!

I'm back from wine country!

We went along the Cayuga wine trail to Swedish Hill, Knapp, Lucas, and Hosmer, for my wine appreciation class today.

It was great!
Very interesting and fun, and I saw all sorts of interesting things, and interesting new wines.

I got my mom a pink champagne candle and myself a bottle of 'Kat Knapp'
We were able to see some of the steps of wine production and I got to eat a grape with noble rot (yes, a moldy grape, it was yummy.)

I really didn't drink as much wine as I thought I would. I really didn't know what to expect since I had never been to a tasting before. It was really interesting, and I tasted a lot of good wines. I definitely have a list in my head now of what to get later. :D

Well I'm off to do homework.
Catch you all later!

Monica and I went to Alex Bay to see what was going on with the pirate festival (no it wasn't about PotC , there were actual pirates hanging around the islands and this is an annual thing.)

Anywho, we walked alot, too much I say! And I'm wicked tired now.
But we had a lot of fun, wandering around some local shops; I got a nice new shirt and a Neil Gaiman book (wee!)

Then we came back and ate at Jrek Subs and wandered over to Baskin Robins so I could re apply for a job there.

Quote of the night:
Monica: ohh! Drunken pirates.
Me: mmm, hot drunken pirates, yum!
Monica: yeah, just think of all the booty...

Today there was a massive power outage; I was deprived of my computer, so I wrote it all on paper instead. Here is my journal of the black out.

"Power's out, It started around 4:00, Monica and I were driving back from second look book store when we noticed that the traffic lights were out, boy THAT was interesting. Apparently power went out from Jersey all the way up to Ottawa and Toronto, it's insane!

It's s surreal, you know in those funny movies where somebody pulls a plug and you see a whole cite night skyline go dark, its like that, but real. NYC is out.

Radio says it's a cascading effect from a over taxed power station somewhere along the NY Canada border. The whole Northeastern is out, Cleveland Detroit, NY, Hartford Connecticut, Acheron Ohio, crazy!

Grandma has corded phones but my side of the house only has cordless phones, they don't work w/o power. And in a lot of places cell phone service is spotty. I'm cut off.

I'm reminded of the Living Dead series. Brandon's All Flesh Must Be Eaten game. I'm expecting Zombies any minute now. I'm likely one of the first to be attacked, living across the street from a hospital and old folk's complex.

Holy Crap! The Stand flashback! Mayor Bloomberg at NYC said something about people needing to be sure thing and appliances be turned off for when power comes back, so the plants aren't over taxed. Freaky!

Bloomberg says power should be back, at least in the city, by tonight sometime. I hope we get it back... WOW!! My watch says 5:55 and our power just kicked on while I was writing!

Whoop! 6:00 went out again, oh well.

It's astounding, reports are saying that people are actually being very courteous and cooperative in the streets, the City is wicked crowded w/ traffic jams and people walking home, and there is no looting or fires or fighting.

Mom just came home, not much interesting hit the hospital before she was able to come home. But she decided to go out and mow the lawn, in the heat, in a power outage! Oh well.
Dad may be coming home soon as well since he can't work if his machines aren't working.

Momo stopped by! Yay! She brought me her dorm room phone so we could actually have a working phone. So things look a little more up and not quite as scary. Whew!
That was a nice little diversion, there's not much to do here with the power out, cant even read it's too dark.

:: grumble :: Buffalo isn't on the same grid as we are. So they still have power! :: grumble ::

Around 7:30 I was upstairs laying down when I heard car horns out front, and then our neighbor was yelling something and duchess was going crazy. I went down to check it out and apparently a small white dog had been running around in the road! So I got one of duchess's leashes so mom wouldn't have to carry him. Dad and I thought that maybe he belonged to somebody in the neighbor hood, so we let the dog wander around; to see if maybe he would walk home and we would see his owners. We walked down Washington St and didn't see anybody so we turned around and there were two people running towards us, he belonged to a girl who lived around the block from us! So we gave him back and she tanked us a lot, and he want home happy."

When we got back home the traffic lights were back on and soon after our power came back.

Some day.

{edit} It seems I have exceeded my allowed band width, if you see red x's try back tomorrow. In the mean time I'll be trying to fix this problem. {/edit}

Ok, not that I'm all rested up I can go on and on about the wonderful time I had at Ren Fest w/ Lindsay, Brandon, Monica, Aaron, Chelsy and Mel!

Chelsy and Mel stayed over night at Monica's place and my parents picked them up in the van to go meet everybody in Oswego in the Culkin parking lot, and then we would convoy to Sterling.

But Aaron didn't show, apparently there were some key troubles, so he met us in the park.

As soon as we got there it started raining! But it wasn't that bad, we wandered around for a little but looking for Aaron. Then we decided that Lindsay and Brandon and I would save a place for everybody at the jousting field while they went to search for Aaron some more.

So we got some cinnamon roasted nuts (YUM!) and waited.
Lindsay petted the pretty horseys ) who loved all the attention and then we sat down and waited. The rest showed up just in time for the equestrian show. Aaron wore his kilt! ) It was a lot of fun, they scared the crap out of a little kid and did some neato stunts )

After the show we wandered a around a bit and then Lindsay got distracted by a neato instrument ) so we all decided to split up and meet back at the Well wench show ) at one. It was a funny show. Then afterwards we wandered a little more, and then decided to head for the hey nunny nunny show, but first Mel wanted to get a cool Henna tattoo ) and after that we went through the really confusing maze ) I got lost a lot but so did everyone else, it was a lot of fun!

Then it was off to more shows, we wanted to see the Hey Nunny Nunny show ) so we headed over that way, but before we got there we were interrupted by the parade! It was really neat. We got to the stage a little early, so we listened to the Empty Hats ) they played some really funny Irish songs.

It was getting pretty late by then and we hadn't seen Don Juan and Miguel yet, so we headed that way to meet my parents and watch The Weird Show ) and it was hilarious, I was having trouble standing I was laughing so hard! :D

After that we headed home, 'cus it was getting late and we were all tired.

Here are A bunch of cool costumes and people we saw during the day )

and Here's one more, a pic of all of us ) we had a great time!

Whew now that I've recovered a bit, how about I tell you all about my trip to corning?

First of, Corning = super cool!

Well I got up wicked early Wednesday morning so I could get ready, and then headed off to Fulton to grab Brandon, pretty uneventful until we got to Rt. 14, Bicyclists EVERYWHERE! Along the whole length of Rt. 14 were bicyclists apparently re-creating the Tour de France or whatever, but after a while Brandon and I were tempted to stop swerving away from the ones in the road and start swerving AT them. And talk about Vineyards! We passed dozens of them! Gotta love wine country.

Then we stopped following the directions I printed up from yahoo maps and got lost but we had a nice trip through Corning and around to Painted Post and back before we finally found Lindsay's house. :)

So we settled in and got situated (I gave Linds the Kettle corn Monica had me get, which she promptly hid) then headed into town, we went to the mall and the chocolate shop where Linds works, :: drool :: soo much chocolate! After I bought some chocolate espresso truffles we went downtown and Lindsay showed us around Market street and we played in some really neat-o antique shops. Then we went to Mariel's (is that right? I can't remember) but before we did we decided to stop into the herb shop next door because we had some time before we were supposed to meet Alfa. That shop is so awesome! And then Alfa surprised us by stopping in there himself while he waited for US, it was weird, but cool, hehe.
We went to the restaurant and had lunch, WOW I was totally impressed, that place had TONS of vegetarian choices, and the soup I got was totally yummy! Then we all got some coffee and walked down to the jewelry shop where Alfa works and chilled for the 1/2 hr until he was done with work, he has some really impressive pieces of jewelry. :D

After Alfa was done Lindsay took us to this nice little park and we hung out and talked and Alfa and I had a really nice conversation and really connected. It started getting late and the birthday party that had been going on broke up and it started raining, so of course we went and played in the playground :D Alfa pushed me in the swing and Lindsay and Brandon had some fun riding the little animals on springs. Lindsay rode side saddle (damned royalty :P) then it started pouring! Yay dancing in the rain! Poor Alfa though, he'd spend the last couple of nights running around in the rain in heavy gear as damage control during the huge storms that hit Corning earlier (He's an EMT) so he was kind of like 'ick rain.' but we still had fun.

And afterwards we went to the mall and hung out in the food court just talking and hanging out, unfortunately we went into Late Night mode and stayed out way too late so it was a rush to take Alfa home and then get back to Lindsay's where we chilled some more and looked at the super cool photos from her trip to Bolt Castle and all the stuff she got from Japan (lucky!) after a while we finally fell asleep in the living room.

Next day we slept in a little too late but Lindsay's awesome mom made us French toast with Chai tea so it was all cool! (even if the soap suds attacked me when I took a shower because they forgot to tell us they had a water softener.)
This was our last day there and I really wanted to see a glass show, but to get a tour of the Museum of glass is like $12, so we just wandered around the gift shop (which was still pretty damned cool!) and then went back to market street because there is a really nice glass shop (I can't remember the name of it) that you could actually watch people make all the stuff they sell. So that was really fun, although I'm sure my obsession of glass was beginning to wear on poor Linds.
Then I wanted to stop in and say hi to Alfa for a sec. but he must have been out to lunch so Lindsay took us to this really cool Japanese place and we got bento boxes and went to the cemetery for a nice little picnic, it was really nice, even though it started raining wicked hard, we had a nice time and Brandon didn't even need to use his fork, chopsticks rock! And the food was AWESOME so yummy! And I had a bunch left over for such a cheep price.

After we finished eating we realized I didn't have much time before I had to head home so we stopped back at the shop and Alfa and I went to a nearby bagel place and talked a little more and said good bye. We then went back to Lindsay's house, packed up, thanked her parents a million times (they were soooo cool!) and headed out. The trip home was completely uneventful besides a really nice talk with Brandon.

Once home I didn't collapse like I though I was going to, I was totally hyped from all the cool stuff I had seen, I really, really like corning. :)
Then later on Alfa got online and then called and we talked until wicked late, (hence why I didn't post last night, to busy talking!)
I'm really (really, really) liking Alfa, and Lindsay and Brandon have approved and made sure that he's not some psycho. :P I hope something can come of this, because he's so sweet and I had so much fun when I was with him.

Anywho, that's my trip to corning, I have a bunch of pictures (including proof that corning is secretly run by agents of Cthulhu and the Elder gods) if anybody is interested you can IM me.

Toodlies all! :D

Oh yeah, I'm definitely going to have to go back to corning, because Lindsay's mom says Monica had to visit too! And this time we'll bring TWO big bags of kettle corn for Linds and her mom. :D

My parents took Monica and me to Old Forge today!
We had a BLAST!

At first dad forgot the tickets and didn't remember till we were about ½ hr out of town, so mom had to turn around and drive back, but that was ok, 'cus I had forgotten my camera.

Once we got there the fun really started. We changed into our bathing suits, (I had a little issue with my bathing suits lack of any kind of substantial breast support, but I got over after finding out my only other option was Madonna esc cone bra.) and went to stake out a place to sit.

Now once we got all situated I wanted to just lay down for a little bit and then go on the rides, but Monica really wanted to get going, so we took a walk through the enchanted forest and the mini zoo. (The kids were so cute!) And then came back, then Mom, Monica and I grabbed some inner tubes and went around the lazy river thing a few times, but wow was it crowded!

After that we decided to grab some chow and chill for a bit, and then Monica was still rarin' to go, but I wanted to lay down for a bit and work on my tan. So she wandered off and I took a nap (yep I fell asleep :-\)

But I was awake by the time Monica came back and we wandered over to the tidal wave, that was fun, its amazing how such simple things can bring so much enjoyment... :D

Then we came back, and I wanted to go on one of my favorite tube rides, but it was down, so we headed to the other side of the park to my other fav. and went down that, it was fun. By the time we came back from it, Mom had already changed out of her bathing suit, and my parents were ready to go, but we weren't.

We ran off and went on the Amazon and then because we still weren't ready to go decided to wander over to the new section of the park. WOW! Two new inner tube rides (both use double tubes and look really cool) and a big ride that uses rafts like the Amazon's but it has an automatic raft lift! And another lazy river type ride but for double inner tubes only (Monica and I went on it it was nice, lots less crowded and the little kids were cute) and a whole little kids slide section with a cute little sprinkler waiting/wading section. (The parents wait for their kids to come down the slides and the kids wade in the water.) Once again simple things, Monica and I played in the sprinklers and had way too much fun with it. :D

By then, mom and dad were waiting for us, so we came back and changed, and were getting ready to go but I wanted to ride the over the park balloon ride thing so I could take more pictures, but before we got to it Monica and I got distracted by the sunglasses stand and had tons of fun trying on all sorts of funky colored sunglasses! Finally we got on the ride and I was able to take more pictures (I'm turning into a real shutter bug!)

After the park we went into town and wandered around inside the Old Forge hardware Store. I love that place, it's not just a hardware store, but a book store, a cooking supply shop, a souvenir shop with all sorts of other really nifty little things for sale there. Mom bought me a new pare of chopsticks that can be washed so I'll always have a set. Monica and I wandered around the book store and I drooled over some of the really neat gourmet cooking utensils. It was fun, I love that place.

I wish we could have wandered around Old Forge some more, but it was getting late and we were all getting hungry, so we headed home, I fell asleep in the car (again!) and apparently mom decided she wanted to eat at The Light House in Lowville. It was a nice dinner except for the over bearing Christianity of the place (bible passages on ever page of the menu, bible theme place mats, and Christian music) our poor waitress though was really getting frazzled because she was the only one working and there were lots of people. She forgot our silverware but served us our salads, then forgot our straws and when she remembered them she ended up throwing them over mothers head onto the table! It startled all of us, but I don't think she noticed she had done it because she was so busy and running around. Despite the few mishaps it was a good dinner and a great desert (cheesecake YUM!) and the waitress deserved a huge tip for doing as well as she did.

So we all left the restaurant full and eager to get home, but as mom pulled out of the parking lot and onto the main street we noticed a bunch of commotion ahead of us with flashing lights.
When we were stopped by the (extremely old) serif (or deputy,) he informed us it was a 2 hour parade!!! (While talking to him we saw the 4H float drive past, followed by a small lama (what id the Lowville 4H doing with a lama?!?) and a baby Shetland pony.) But he directed us to a detour where we were directed by two (just as old) deputies and were back on our way.

Unfortunately this detour involved us going way out of our way and all the way to beaver falls past the speed way and finally into Carthage. (Might as well have waited for the parade to end...)
We saw three deer on the way home, one was in the middle of Old forge, one on the way to Lowville and one on our detour, so mom told Monica and I to keep an eye out, but we didn't see any more deer, just cows, lots of cows.

But we finally got home and dropped Monica off and came back and let Duchess out (who has to stay in the kitchen all day so she wouldn't have an accident on the rug if grandma forgot to take her out for us, which she did.)

Whew what a day!
We had tons of fun and I took bunches of pictures (yay!)

Yesterday we had a great day, it was the first day in a while that Monica and I actually hung out together. Monica, her friend Jeri and I walked to the farmers market, then the library, and then we decided to head to Momo's friend Amber's appt. But then we remembered that Amber was at work, so we headed back to the farmers market, then we decided to go eat at the Palace Diner since we haven't eaten there before, it was nice. After lunch Momo and I went to Severance Photos to pick up some pics of mine and Jeri went to get her clarinet at the music place. Jeri met us at Severance and Momo got distracted by the Second Look book store so we HAD to go in ;) and of course I can never leave that place without buying something. :P (I got a VHS and a DVD, Signs and Carnivore which looks like a nice cheesy horror) after that we walked back through the farmers market and home after picking up something for the doggies.

Then later that day Monica and I drove up to Clayton to walk around and look at stuff, it is really pretty, the islands are so beautiful, and I had fun looking around this one store with all these local paintings, and books about the islands. Super cool. I think I want to get one of the books that had all sorts of photographs of the islands and of boats on the water, it looked really nice. I took a few pictures of the water and the islands and the front of this one house that had (fake) marble lions out front. I want lions out front of my house! All I have are terra cotta frogs... :P

Then today was interesting, Monica had gotten a call from Gertrude Hawke (the new chocolate store that will be opening up in our mall) we had both filled out applications for it and turned them in at the same time, but only Monica got called in for the open interview (I think the lady who took the apps. must have misplaced mine or something) but the ladies doing the interview were very nice and let me fill out another application and the manager took a look at it, she seemed kind of excited that I knew sign language, that's a plus, but she didn't ask me nearly as much as the lady who interviewed Monica :: nervous :: the manager said she would have to call my references and would get back to me by Monday. :: crosses fingers and hopes ::

After the interviews Monica and I walked over to FYE, Monica was looking for a Moxy Früvous CD (they rock! I think it's because they're Canadian) and while there I saw the Witches of Eastwick on the bargain table and HAD to get it! We didn't find the CD there, but Borders had It so its all cool. Monica you better let me burn it; I need my Moxy Früvous fix!

In other good news dad got the drain fixed so we can do laundry at home again! YAY! :D

W007 !

Had soooo much fun yesterday!
We were supposed to meet Brandon and Lindsay in the Culkin parking lot before we headed off to Darin Lake, but they had it blocked off. But it was ok, we still could see Brandon waiting for us, and Lindsay almost ran us over while we were waiting. :)

The trip there was mostly uneventful. Except for that time in Fulton when we missed our turn and one of the cars ended up getting into an accident with a big truck, from Oswego. Don't worry no major damage, just a shaken driver, a large dent, broken door handle, and a little paint.

Once we got to Darien Lake we had a nice little picnic out in the parking lot. My mom is so awesome, she brought a cooler filled to the brim with sandwichy and snack stuff for us to eat so we wouldn't have to pay the HUGE amount of money that the park was asking for food (one small bottle of water = $2.75!) then we lathered ourselves up with sun block and headed in. We had a great time just hanging out and walking around the park, and the rides were awesome! My favorite ride is still the Boomerang. But the predator is pretty cool, a little too rickety for the last ride of the day though. If you ever have a bag or something and want to go on a ride be extra super careful, 'cus I would drop my bag off before I got on a ride, and Linds would pick it up when she got off, and nobody said anything about it.

We even did a little shopping while we were there, I got myself a Marvin wind chime, and Mommy found me a new and SUPER cool Marvin watch!!!!!
To thank my mom for being so awesome and putting up with us through the trip (we could get a little weird while we were talking) we decided to get her a gift from all of us. So we went into one of those dress up old west photo places and got our pictures taken, it was sooooo fun!! We got one of them framed and gave it to Mom. She really is great for coming along with us and driving us around and listening to our silliness. Thanks Mom! (Even though she doesn't read this :)

And now for the pictures:

and now for some quotes of the day:

"I just realized how weird carrots look when they are blue." ~Momo

"Synchronized soda lifting" ~Abby

"I need my glasses." ~Momo
"I know that, that's why I keep offering you my butt, but it's not working." ~Lindsay

ok that's it, every body go home. I'm still exhausted from yesterday.

Momo, Toto and I went to the zoo today! Momo came over and we walked over Toto's, Haley street changes names 3 times! It's weird. And after getting Toto, who was wearing 2 ace bandages on his ankle, we walked up to the zoo. We had a lot of fun, we saw the dead (ok maybe not dead, but really sleepy) lynx and hiding bobcats, and one of the mountain lions is named George. :D and then Momo chased Toto around with sun block, but didn't put any on herself and got a bad burn. (oh yeah, so did I, but its not nearly as bad ad Momo's :P )

I took lotsa pictures, especially of the escape roosters and all sorts of other things; maybe I'll post some here when I get around to putting them on the computer.

Then we went and played on the playground a little, and walked home, I was sooo tired! That was a lot of walking for today, especially after walking lot yesterday. But I had tons of fun, Toto is super cool, even if he does need two ace bandages for his mysterious swollen ankle.

We went out and put flowers on Sam's and Poppi's graves today, it was sad; Sam's grave was gross, grass and bird crap, and dirt all over it. It's like Aunt Grace and those people don't even care. And because of the wet and warm weather we've been having, Poppi's stone is growing moss in the engraved parts. So mom said she's going to go see if she can find some good marble cleaner for Sam's stone and moss killer for Poppi's. We drove by Grandpa Stone (Grandmas first husband, Floyd Welbourn, died before I was born, we would always go and take care of his grave though, and I would call it Grandpa Stone when I was little, and it stuck.) The bushes we planted are dead again (this is the third pair), the cemetery soil is too sandy for most plants, and it looks like the cemetery is suffering a blight anyways, because the shrubs they had planted are all dead too. So mom bought these beautiful white rose bushes to plant on either side and a bunch of red geraniums to put in front, and we have tons of potting soil and miracle grow to keep them alive.

I just realized how depressing this post must seem, talking about 3 dead people and their grave stones. oh well. I loved Sam he might as well have been my brother, Poppi (Grandpa Lambert, Grandma's second husband) was one of my best friends, he taught me how to play poker. And Grandpa Stone has been something the family takes care of as a whole for as long as I can remember. So these things are important.

Also, while at Brookside I realized how beautiful cemeteries can be, the old grave stones and monuments, some of them are real works of art. And Brookside has several very large duck ponds filled will all sorts of ducks, swans and geese, and a heron or two. When I was a little kid we would always take a loaf of old bread with us when we went to take care of Grandpa Stone, and feed it to the ducks when we were done. I'm thinking of someday taking my camera up there and taking pictures, it really is quite pretty.

My parents came down Sunday; I had a great time visiting with my doggy! (She’s so cuuuute!) I signed my taxes and game them all the loan stuff. Then we went to Rudy’s and got lunch... yummy! Afterwards my mom HAD to go to this farmers market on 104, she kept trying to buy the huge potted flowers, but dad had to keep reminding her that they had the dog with them, and the flowers wouldn’t fit into the trunk, poor mom, the flowers really were gorgeous. Then dad kept trying to buy cookies and cakes and pies and stuff for me and him, but I would never be able to eat much here, I hardly eat anything outside of meal time besides a PB&J every now and then. But I did get a little package of maple sugar candies...OMG sooo gooood! I think im like addicted or something, I keep wanting to have more, but it was only a little package so there aren’t many left, im trying to ration them so they will last longer, but the temptation is so hard to resist. Mmmm yummy!

I’ve also been working all weekend (yeah, yeah only 2 /12 hrs a night... but still!) Work = money, but my legs and feet are not pleased with me. I think I may have to wrap up my ankle tonight before I head out to Late Night, it’s pretty sore and feels like it wants to give out. They’ve been having my do stir-fry, is not bad, the only difficult part is when you get about 10 in a row and people start bitching because theirs isn’t done yet, (it takes about 5-7 min to make sure everything I cooked thoroughly) I don’t understand why ever time I order stir fry the girl doing it somehow messes it up, its really not that hard, and I could be making more difficult orders.

Oh well, I think ill grab another maple candy then head out to Late Night, and then afterwards its of to the White Wolf game, (I really like the way Brandon is taking it, its really fun.) And maybe after the game, we’ll watch a movie. I don’t have class until 11 tomorrow.

Monica, Nikkii, and I all went shopping today! Weee!
I finally got my car battery replaced (I love Auto Zone!) so when I got back we all went out Christmas shopping.
We went to real deals (cool ass dollar store! Strawberry soda, mmmm.) Ate at the Mid China Buffet (yummy-ness.) Went to Fashion Bug (Monica got the cutest sweater, plus this awesome blue shirt with flair sleeves. And I got a cool shirt too! (Nikkii tried on naughtys.)) Then we went to the Dollar Tree (more cheap fun-ness.) Then I was off to the big fun... Wally World! YAY!
Nikkii and I both got the same sweater (it's pretty green and sooooooft) Monica tried on a really neat looking shirt (she’s so cuuuute!) Nikkii tried on more naughtiness, we walked around and shopped, got TONS of soda, got teary eyed over old children’s books, got all cute over Hamtaro, and generally had a great time.

I’ve finally realized something, shopping is MUCH more fun when you’re with friends, and NOT your parents. :)

Weee!

I went up to Ogdensburg to visit a friend today

Lots a fun, he forced me to watch DBZ (yay?) and we talked about mutual interests and the Craft. Then because it was so warm today we decided to go up to his uncles camp and go swimming. But we both neglected to bring our suits. So we both jumped in, in full clothing! Got a weird look from the chick next camp over, but oh well we had fun. : )
(Luckily I had a change of clothes in my trunk)

But I was so tired on the way home; I almost fell asleep behind the wheel, and drifted off the road. No worries for those who actually care. Nothing hurt, and the car was ok. I caught it before anything could happen.

Whew, sorry I didn't pose earlier (yeah I know you all are just riveted to your screens on the edges of your seat waiting for me to write something. :-P ) but right after I got home from the Ren Fest I went to bed (At 9:00, wow) and then had to go to my grandpas birthday party (79 woo!) today.

Anyway the Ren Fest kicked major ass. There was definitely much fun to be had and eye cant to consume. :) We got there about ½ hr late due to the unforeseen fat that both Monica and I are incredibly slow in the morning. But that was ok because Sara was an hour late (we got to listen to Addison and Nate complain the whole time we waited)

Once we arrive it was Hella cool, costumes galore, shirtless sexy guys, and chicks w/ their breasts falling out of their bodices, kick ass comic relief (Don Juan and Miguel rock!) and of course all the medieval like food you can stuff into your face.

Monica and Nikki bought pretty hair accessories, Tom threw a bunch of knives, axes and other sharp (or dull, for safety) instruments of danger at little red dots on a wall. Poor Aaron was all owies (he hurt himself the day before; it was very owies-looking.) Nate looked dark and brooding, unless he was with Lindsay then he was all cute and happy and smiley (I have pictures.) Lindsay was all cool looking (or warm, very warm) in her period noble getup, and I, of course, took pictures, lotsa, lotsa pictures (74 to be exact.) :-D

When we got there we got separated from the mass of people that were with us, we finally found Sara before we left and I took pictures of Sara, Crystal and Heather G. in pretty, pretty costumes. But I never got to see Erin or Rusho :: pout :: I did get to meet Nates sister and now have a picture of the two trying to kill each other (awwwwww!)

Hmmm. . . Have I forgotten anything? Oh well if I did I'm sure ill remember it later! So, to conclude this oh so wonderful recount of the Ren Fest, It Kicked Ass! (and if anybody wants pics.. ask me!)

So Monica asks me if I wanted to go to lunch today. Of course I said yes, even if it meant walking from my place to hers then to Jreck's and back. (It's not really that far, but it was hot and I like to complain) I was dying for somethign to do, it is sooo boring around here if you don't have a job.
Anyway, I walk out of my house and am blinded... today was the first time I've been out of my house since harbor fest. (Not counting every morning at like 7 when neither the heat nor the sun are that bad... it's actually nice at that time of day.) And the sun was BRIGHT!!

Yeah, I know, I'm pathetic.

Soo yeah, for all of you suffering from the heat.. here's a little treat from Alice!

And She Was
Hey!

And she was lying in the grass
And she could hear the highway breathing
And she could see a nearby factory
She's making sure she is not dreaming
See the lights of a neighbor's house
Now she's starting to rise
Take a minute to concentrate
And she opens up her eyes

The world was moving she was right there with it and she was
The world was moving she was floating above it and she was
and she was

And she was drifting through the backyard
And she was taking off her dress
And she was moving very slowly
Rising up above the earth
Moving into the universe
And she's drifting this way and that
Not touching the ground at all
And she's up above the yard

The world was moving she was right there with it and she was
(Hey, hey)
The world was moving she was floating above it and she was

Hey, hey, hey

She was proud about it... no doubt about it
She isn't sure about what she's done
No time to think about what to tell him
No time to think about what she's done
And she was

Hey hey, hey hey, hey!

And she was looking at herself
And things were looking like a movie
She had a pleasant elevation
She's moving out in all directions
Oh, oh oh

Hey hey hey (repeated..)

The world was moving she was right there with it and she was
Hey, woo hoo
The world was moving she was floating above it and she was
Hey, hey

Joining the world of missing persons and she was
Missing enough to feel all right and she was

Ha ha
And she was
(repeated..)
